Jinn - The Pet is a Hindi horror-fantasy film released in theatres on 30th May 2025. The movie tells the story of a mysterious jinn (a supernatural being) that becomes a pet to a lonely boy, but later reveals its dark powers. The film stars child actor Aarav Mehta in the lead role, along with veteran actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a supporting role. Directed by Sameer Khan, the movie mixes horror, emotion, and fantasy elements.

Before the release, Jinn - The Pet created curiosity among audiences because of its unusual story and interesting trailer. The film promised a different kind of horror experience, especially for younger viewers. The music and background score were also praised for creating a spooky atmosphere.

After release, the film received mixed to average reviews. Some critics liked the fresh idea and the emotional bond between the boy and the jinn. Others felt the story was slow and the climax was not strong. On IMDb, the movie got a rating of 6.1 out of 10. Audience reactions on social media were divided—some found it entertaining, while others expected more thrills.

Box Office India Net Collection

The India net collection means the total money earned from ticket sales in India after removing GST (Goods and Services Tax). In the case of Jinn - The Pet, the movie earned around ₹10.20 crore net in the first 10 days.

On opening day, the movie collected only ₹1.20 crore, which was considered low. However, on Saturday and Sunday, collections increased a little as families and children showed some interest. In small towns, the movie performed better than in big cities. Weekdays saw a sharp drop in collections.

Box Office India Gross Collection

The India gross collection is the total money collected at the Indian box office before removing taxes. For Jinn - The Pet, the India gross in the first 10 days was around ₹12.10 crore.

This includes ticket sales from all over India. The movie did better in single-screen theatres compared to multiplexes. In cities like Lucknow, Patna, and Jaipur, the film had decent footfall, but in metros like Mumbai and Delhi, the performance was weak.

Worldwide Gross Collection

Jinn - The Pet had a very limited overseas release. It was shown in a few theatres in the UAE, Nepal, and Bangladesh. The overseas business was not very strong.

From overseas markets, the film earned around ₹1.20 crore. So, the total worldwide gross collection of the movie in 10 days is ₹13.30 crore. This includes both Indian and international earnings. The movie didn’t attract a big global audience, mainly because it lacked star power and had limited marketing abroad.

Day-Wise Box Office Collection

On day one, which was Friday, the film earned ₹1.20 crore net in India and ₹1.40 crore gross worldwide. On Saturday, collections went up slightly with ₹1.60 crore net and ₹1.85 crore gross. Sunday was the best day for the film, with ₹2 crore net and ₹2.30 crore gross.

On Monday, collections dropped to ₹1 crore net and ₹1.15 crore gross. Tuesday earned ₹0.85 crore net and ₹1 crore gross. On Wednesday, the film made ₹0.75 crore net and ₹0.90 crore gross. Thursday saw another dip with ₹0.65 crore net and ₹0.75 crore gross.

In the second weekend, Friday earned ₹0.60 crore net, Saturday ₹0.80 crore net, and Sunday ₹0.95 crore net. After 10 days, the India net total stood at ₹10.20 crore, and the India gross was ₹12.10 crore. Adding overseas earnings of ₹1.20 crore, the worldwide total reached ₹13.30 crore.

Budget

The total budget of Jinn - The Pet was estimated to be around ₹15 crore. This includes production costs like sets, special effects, actor fees, and technical equipment. The film also spent money on promotions, including trailers, posters, and a few TV ads. Since it had visual effects and horror scenes, part of the budget went into post-production.

For a horror-fantasy movie with limited star cast and a small release, ₹15 crore is considered a medium budget. The makers hoped to recover the budget through theatrical earnings and later through OTT and satellite rights.

Hit or Flop

To decide whether Jinn - The Pet is a hit or flop, we must compare its box office earnings with its total budget. The budget was ₹15 crore, but the worldwide gross was only ₹13.30 crore in 10 days.

This means the movie failed to recover its full cost from theatres. Even if the film earns some money later from OTT streaming platforms or television rights, the theatrical business is not strong enough.

So, the final verdict is that Jinn - The Pet is a Flop at the box office. The movie did not make enough money in cinemas to cover its production and marketing costs.

Jinn - The Pet had an interesting concept and a unique story. It tried to mix horror and emotion in a family-friendly way. The film had a strong message and good acting by the child actor and supporting cast. However, it struggled to attract large audiences in theatres.

The movie earned ₹10.20 crore net in India and ₹13.30 crore worldwide, which is lower than its budget of ₹15 crore. Due to this, the movie is declared a flop at the box office.

Though it may get a better response on OTT platforms in the future, the theatre performance was not enough. The film could not live up to expectations and did not succeed in making a mark commercially.
